The parent company hoped to expand this new subsidiary from its European base into the United States and Asia. New endorsement contracts with top-ranked female athletes, including tennis player Gabriela Sabatini and skier Deborah Compagnoni, supported the drive for the female consumer. The line, to be presented at Pitti Uomo this January, is the antithesis of a flash-in-the-pan collaboration. Instead, Fila Fjord is a full-fledged sub-brand that will be developed by Andersen over time. The dogs that were in Uncle Tom's Cabin were the bloodhound-mastiffs or tracking mastifs from Latin America.
